P6 Maths (Volume)
Things to Note : Difference between a cube and cuboid, and need to memorise the Volume Formula. The above is a 2 mark question from Paper 1 portion. Paper 1 questions tend to be short and easy to calulate as no calculators are allowed.

Addition of Numbers in Sequence
My Primary 3 student was asking how to do this:-
1+2+3+4......................+97+98+99+100 = ?
we need to add the numbers from both ends, 2 at a time. For example, the 1st number "1" and last number "100" adds up to "101". The 2nd number "2" and last 2nd number "99" adds up to "101" also. If you keep doing this, all the numbers will add up to "101".
From 1- 100, there is 50 sets of 2 numbers-----> 100/2=50
Each set gives you a sum of 101.
Hence total would be 101 x 50 = 5050 (Ans)

Back after 2 years...
Hihi,
time passes and my kids are now both 4 years and 2 years old respectively. These 2 years have been fruitful, my kids grew up, we started KEN Tuition Centre at 256 Yishun Ring Rd, and we shifted house from Sembawang to Yishun. I hope to have the time to add more to this blog from now on.
Rgds,
Kenny Wong.

P4 MATHS - Fractions
The number of girls in a school was 2/5 of the number of pupils in the school. There were 48 more boys than girls. After some girls
went for a camp, the number of boys in the school was 4 times the number of the remaining girls. How many girls went camping?
To start off,
the student must know that since 2/5 of the pupils are girls, 3/5 must be boys.
1 - 2/5 = 3/5
We change the fraction to 2 units for girls, and 3 units for boys.
1 unit ---> 48
3 units ---> 48 * 3 = 144 ( Boys )
2 units ---> 48 * 2 = 96 ( Girls)
After, some girls went for a camp, the student must know that the number of boys remained unchanged.
Since the boys now become 4 times the number of girls,
144 / 4 = 38 ( girls now)
96 - 38 = 58 ( girls that went camping )
